Rural Exchange

Policy

Our research on NISRIE, Novel Insights on Scotland's Rural and Island Economies, informs policy in this area including rural enterprises, Community Wealth Building, agriculture beyond Brexit, and rural food economies. Our research re-emphasises the diversity of economic activity in rural and island communities and points to a greater need for place-based policy, for instance extending the legislative requirements for Island Community Impact Assessments into our remote and very remote mainland communities.

Based on the evidence from our research we will evaluate policy interventions and generate policy recommendations across all of these issues, and these will be published in policy notes, briefings, and blogs.
