Transport
This section is all about transport - here we will explore key issues relating to transport in rural Scotland including electric vehicle charging infrastructure as we decarbonise our road transport and the availability, accessibility, and punctuality of public transport including bus and train services in rural areas. We will also highlight the transport challenges for island businesses and residents moving freight and travelling to and from mainland Scotland and when making inter-island journeys by lifeline ferry and flight services.
The NISRIE project will include case studies on transport across rural Scotland and analysis of a wide range of data to determine persistent transport issues and their impacts on economic development, inequalities, and the health and wellbeing of those living and working in rural Scotland.
